Church partnership
If your church or fellowship is looking for a deeper relationship than a one-week mission trip, we'd love to talk. Most of our church partners stay connected for years.
What partnership looks like
Regular prayer support is where most of our church partnerships begin and end up mattering most. Periodic short-term immersion trips with ZimJourney let small delegations experience the work in person. Financial support is usually tied to a specific named project — a borehole, a classroom, a clinic supply run — so the congregation can see exactly what their giving accomplished.
Occasional letter exchanges between Sunday school classes and a Zimbabwean school have been some of the most meaningful pieces of the work. Visits run in both directions when possible — Zimbabwean partners have visited a number of our U.S. congregations over the years, and the conversations on either side of the visit tend to last for months.
Why ecumenical works
We've worked with congregations across denominations and traditions — Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopal, non-denominational evangelical, ecumenical fellowships, and a number of partnerships that crossed faith traditions entirely. The common ground is a commitment to long-term partnership and mutual learning, not theological alignment on every issue.
Our Zimbabwean partners come from their own breadth of traditions. The conversations we've had at meal tables and around well-rigs have been some of the richest faith conversations any of us have been part of. We don't ask churches to bracket their tradition; we ask them to bring it, generously and humbly, into a shared work.
